How soon can I get an initial appointment?
Most patients receive an initial medical appointment within three days.

Does the Center have Spanish-speaking doctors?
Yes. All of our services are available in Spanish through a Spanish-speaking staff member or a translator.

Does the Center have sign-language translators?
Yes. When making an appointment, please be sure to request a sign-language translator.

Are the clinics wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Both the Samuels and Morningside clinics have ramps and elevators for patients in wheelchairs.

May I request a prescription refill over the telephone?
Yes, except you may not get prescriptions for controlled substances refilled over the phone.

What documents do I need to bring to my first appointment?
If available, you should bring proof of your HIV-positive status, copies of your health records from previous providers, and your insurance card.

May I choose and/or change my primary care provider?
Patients are allowed to change providers once. If a patient is dissatisfied with the second provider and wants to change again, his/her request is reviewed and decided upon by designated CCC clinical staff. Often patients are assigned to a particular provider based on the provider’s availability and his/her ability to accept specific insurance plans.

Do you have clinical trials?
Yes. We are currently looking for naïve patients (patients that have yet to receive treatment) and experienced patients. For more information, please call Phyllis Ristau, RN at (212) 523-6844.

In case of a health emergency, how do I contact my doctor?
Call the clinic anytime, anyday, as soon as possible. If your provider is not available, another CCC provider will handle your call.

Which insurances do you accept?
The CCC accepts most major private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and ADAP.

Do you provide services to patients without insurance?
Yes. The CCC utilizes a sliding scale payment option for patients without insurance. A social worker at the clinic can also help you to get insurance benefits.

May I get reimbursed for transportation to and from the clinic?
If you have Medicaid or if you are receiving complementary therapy services, you are eligible for transportation reimbursement in the form of a $4 (roundtrip) metrocard.
